Great Friend - Curtain Call #42

Oh my!  It's been a week since my last post!  Busy times!  I guess it's the last flurry of activities before the kids go back to school.  At the end of the week I treated myself to a day away at the antique flea market.  That was a lot of fun.  Saturday was our town's annual festival, Watermelon Days.  So, I guess it's not surprising I didn't spend any time creating.

Now that we are beginning a new week, let's go straight to the Curtain Call Challenge!

Yummy, warm colors....reminds me of pre-fall days!  Now believe it or not, I haven't bought the new In-Colors yet.  So, some substitutions were in order.  I used Certainly Celery and an old retired In-color, Groovy Guava.

I did struggle with this card a bit.  I think it was sheer exhaustion from a busy week.  The thing I like the least?  My stitching through the butterflies.  My curves aren't as smooth as I would have liked.  Something that should come easily for someone that has sewn for as many years as I have!  Oh well!  Can't be perfect!

Now what will the rest of the Crew create?

Inspired By Nature - Curtain Call #38

Oh, do I love the colors for this week's Curtain Call!  Isn't this just beautiful?  I love flowers and grow many kinds.  How I would love to have some of these in my garden!

My first instinct was to use my Branch Out set.  Hmmm, can't do that, my friend Cathy is borrowing it.  Second thought, how about Season of Friendship?  No, Debbie has that one.  So, third choice...Inspired By Nature!  Guess that's what I'm going with!

I haven't combined challenges in soooo long!  Heck, other than the Curtain Call, I've done no other challenges!  Well, I just had to participate in the Mojo Monday challenge!  How I would LOVE to win me some Verve stamps!

What about the rest of the Crew?  You must check them out!

Act 25 - Curtain Call Challenge....Finally!

A little late, I know. I think I spent parts of FOUR days working on this card. I simply couldn't find enough time in one sitting OR I was incredibly tired. Oh, how I've been a runnin'! It's just that time of year with spring sports and lots of gardening to do!

Very spring-like colors this time! However, definitely out of my comfort zone!I had my doubts I could pull it off. I figured a Clean and Simple card was the way to go. However, my Clean and Simple cards don't always turn out clean OR simple. Sometimes I don't know when to stop. This one might be pushing those limits, but like I said, I'm pretty satisfied.
I'll mention again. Please stop and visit each Crew member. I know I will, now that I'm done!

Friends 24-7 .....Simply

The card I am sharing today was made about 6 weeks ago. I held a stamp class showing many different simple techniques, very few supplies. Sometimes you just have to get back to the basics and remind yourself you can be creative without all the extra goodies! So, this card is little more than card stock and ink. The twist is the tissue paper technique that gives the stamped image such great texture. The floral image comes from Friends 24-7. The sentiment from Great Friend.

If you did want to jazz it up a bit, some ribbon would be lovely. Or how about the Spiral punch along the Old Olive cardstock. It was hard to resist stopping, but that was the whole point of the class!

I'll be MIA a little longer. This weekend the quilt guild I belong to is having a quilt show. I am signed up to help out in many areas. So, until next time....Happy Stamping!

Flowerpot Card 4 My Mum!

Hello my stamping friends!

I know I have been absent most of the summer! It certainly wasn't my plan to take the summer off, but essentially that's what happened! Now that the kids are back in school, I am desperately hoping that I find some time in my craft room!

Today I really had no choice. You see, tomorrow is my mother's birthday. It's milestone birthday, 60 years. So, I had to come up with something good. I gave it my best shot with a flowerpot card. I have never made one and therefore it took FOREVER! I suppose being a little rusty had something to do with it, too. I'm fairly pleased with it. I don't think I've ever completed a card saying I wouldn't change a thing, but this is close. My main gripe, the proportions are a little off and the pull out is a little on the small side. Great if you don't have much to write in the card! Maybe not so great in this case, but I know she will love it, she's my mom, she has too!

Anyway, thanks so much for sticking with me through my absence! I really appreciate all of you! See you soon!
