Sunday and the Curtain Call Crew

Before I show my contribution to Curtain Call Challenge, I have a short story to share. Yesterday was the first day of Spring here in the Northern hemisphere and it snowed here in Iowa! The previous week had been gorgeous, with lots of sun and warm temperatures. All our snow was gone, which was quite surprising considering how much snow we had, and how quick the warm-up came. When my daughter saw the snow SHE CRIED! She wailed, "I'm so sick of snow!" Poor thing! I have to agree! I am SO ready for Spring weather!

So, onto my card. These are the colors for the week....very pretty purse for the inspiration.I'm not too sure I did it justice.....So I MAY take another stab at it this week. In the meantime, I'm anxious to take a look at the rest of the Crew's contributions.

Scrapload of Cards! Again!

I have another scrapload of cards to share with you today! I had hopes of posting this earlier in the weekend, but time got away from me again. Why do the weekends go so fast? Saturday I had LOADS of fun at a local auction. It's not often my hubby goes with me, but this day he did. I know he regretted it. We closed the place down. There from to start to finish. Plus, our vehicle was completely full. I even had boxes on my lap! Lots of goodies. My biggest purchases: a dresser for our son and a primitive table. I bought lots of box lots. I'm hoping to post the treasures on my other blog: Made Or Found sometime on Monday, if you want to check it out!
I'm still on my endless quest to use my scraps. So, these cards, like the last bunch, came from my scrap file. I had lots of this DSP in So Saffron because I had cut a bunch for a class, then changed my mind about using them! They are just about gone!I really like this image from Friends 24-7. I challenged myself to use it because I thought it would be the neglected image in the set. I love the bird from this set, but now I really appreciate this one, too.I also like stamping them on the DSP. I didn't feel the need to color them! Couldn't be easier!
This last one isn't inked on DSP but I did use the Stitched background on the Very Vanilla cardstock. It's pretty subtle. (Click on it to get a closer look.) I used Blush Blossom because everything else I tried was just too dark. The piercing came about when I took out the brown thread I had stitched into the card. It was just too much. This is better, I think.

So, I hope to do more challenges this week! The big obstacle will be my daughter's Halloween costume. I haven't even started! So, if you hear from me, you know I either finished it quickly or became totally frustrated! We'll just see....

Kristina's Color Inspiration #2

I can't believe it is Wednesday already! this week is just whizzing by! I haven't been stamping, I've been preoccupied with other pursuits. Primarily, scrapbooking and gardening. I have lots of clean-up to do in the yard and the weather is nice....for now!

This card for Kristina's second Color Inspiration was tough. Of the four colors, Wild Wasabi, Blush Blossom, Groovy Guava, and So Saffron, the only ink I have is the So Saffron. I used it in the white background with Stitched. Luckily, I do have all the cardstock. I love how the punches coordinate with the stamps in the Polka Dot Punches set. The 5 Petal Punch has always been a favorite of mine, so no surprise this is the first one used out of the four! The images aren't ink, just clear embossed.

I'm off to stamp! So, see you soon!

Think Happy Thoughts - Ribbon Fraying Leftovers

My card today is using the leftover "eyelash" portion of the ribbon fraying technique I from Jeannie's cards (see post of 11/27/08.) Once again my inspiration came from Angie Juda's Stampin' Academy.
During her tutorial she mentioned how she would find a use for the scrap left behind when you fray the ribbon. Otherwise, I probably would have thrown it away! Thanks once again, Angie! I placed adhesive on a separate 1 1/4" circle then began pressing the "eyelash" into the adhesive, from the outer edge working in. I jazzed it up with the scallop circle punch, punched additionally with and 1/8" punch on each petal. Also, making "rick rack" with the scalloped edge punch. I added the faux stitching along the bottom. The stamps I used are the background Stitched and Think Happy Thoughts. Fun little card. I crammed a lot of techniques in this one!

Kristina's Color Inspiration #17

After weeks of not participating I've finally done another one of Kristina's challenges.....just under the wire! Isn't this dress beautiful? Wish I had that figure! Many, many years ago I was close! I decided to use the new stamp set I received this week, Wonderful Favorites. I also used the background stamp Stitched. This card came together pretty quickly, basically I knew I wanted to use the Stitched stamp and the Rose Red flowers from Flower Fusion. I think I captured the essence of the inspiration photo, but Kristina will be the judge.

Hey There! All About You!

I know it's been quite a while since my last post. I have had lots of things going on in my life, not so fun stuff. My husband had major surgery the first part of May and he's been recovering this entire time. Additionally, we've been dealing with major flooding in our area. The river is 12 feet higher than the previous high water mark. Although we aren't in the affected area, we know people who are and it's heartbreaking. When the water goes down we'll know the full extent of the damage, but we already know it will be substantial. We were "fortunate" enough to escape with only a little water in our finished basement. An early morning storm came through and knocked out our power. The storm also brought 4" of rain rather quickly. So, it didn't take long for our sump pit to fill and begin to overflow. We ended up with about 1" of water down there. So, things haven't been going great....but I'm still here!!!

I thought I'd go ahead and post a card I did some time ago. It's from the retired set All About You, along with Bali Breeze DP. The card base is Tempting Turquoise. At the top I used River Rock cardstock with the Stitched background stamp. For the Scallop Punch it's Old Olive and the flowers on the letter "U" are Groovy Guava. Hope you are finding more time to stamp than I am!
