Scrapload of Cards! Again!

I have another scrapload of cards to share with you today! I had hopes of posting this earlier in the weekend, but time got away from me again. Why do the weekends go so fast? Saturday I had LOADS of fun at a local auction. It's not often my hubby goes with me, but this day he did. I know he regretted it. We closed the place down. There from to start to finish. Plus, our vehicle was completely full. I even had boxes on my lap! Lots of goodies. My biggest purchases: a dresser for our son and a primitive table. I bought lots of box lots. I'm hoping to post the treasures on my other blog: Made Or Found sometime on Monday, if you want to check it out!
I'm still on my endless quest to use my scraps. So, these cards, like the last bunch, came from my scrap file. I had lots of this DSP in So Saffron because I had cut a bunch for a class, then changed my mind about using them! They are just about gone!I really like this image from Friends 24-7. I challenged myself to use it because I thought it would be the neglected image in the set. I love the bird from this set, but now I really appreciate this one, too.I also like stamping them on the DSP. I didn't feel the need to color them! Couldn't be easier!
This last one isn't inked on DSP but I did use the Stitched background on the Very Vanilla cardstock. It's pretty subtle. (Click on it to get a closer look.) I used Blush Blossom because everything else I tried was just too dark. The piercing came about when I took out the brown thread I had stitched into the card. It was just too much. This is better, I think.

So, I hope to do more challenges this week! The big obstacle will be my daughter's Halloween costume. I haven't even started! So, if you hear from me, you know I either finished it quickly or became totally frustrated! We'll just see....

Scrapload of Cards!

Well, maybe "scrapload" isn't totally accurate, but that's what I'm calling this post. All of them did come from scraps because not a single full sheet was cut into (except for the card bases of course!) I HAD to use scraps since my scrap file was BUSTING at the seams....literally! I just love this new set from the mini catalog, Autumn Spendor. I sat on the fence with this set for weeks before I broke down and bought it. I am so glad I did. It's gorgeous inked up!

This was the first card I came up with.....far from a winner. But I really liked the leaves stamped on the retired Au Chocolate DSP. I only used More Mustard and Really Rust ink. I kept on going.....

Now this is card I can claim! I really like this one. I added the Old Olive ink and the third leaf image since the Au Chocolate paper I was working with was larger. I just acquired the background stamp En Francais and was busting to use it too. Since I made a horizontal card the background wasn't wide enough to cover the card front. I needed a place to put some ribbon anyway! I used a simple bow that lays more flat so it will travel in the mail much better. Anybody else have problems with that?

My third try I decided to stamp directly on the Kraft cardstock. I like this look too. Although, I'm not sure I am lovin' the ribbon AND the floss tag together, but after I had already added the ribbon I was stumped on where to put my sentiment. It's OK. I really love the Kraft paper and Autumn Spendor together! I love Kraft anytime, but it seems especially fitting in Fall.

On a side note, Fall may not last too much longer here in Iowa. We've had temps WAY below normal and the last 10 days have been gray and gloomy. Thankfully it's sunny today and it allowed me to get some decent pictures! My last post told of my photography woes! Today I took my pictures in the kitchen on my hoosier cabinet. It works well when the sun it out! Hope you are enjoying sunny, warm Fall days! Until next time....

Kristina's Color Inspiration #7

Happy Sunday to you! I am excited to say, I have a whole week of posts planned for you! I spent all day Friday making cards to prepare. I actually thought I would start yesterday but the day was filled from morning 'til night with kids activities then a movie night with the kids and the grandparents. So, it was a good day. Hopefully you've had a good weekend, too!

Time for more cards to finish all of Kristina's Color Inspiration challenges!

Today's card is my second attempt at using Friends 24-7. I just love this set. So many lovely images in it. The damask stamp is to die for! See how I used it on the lower half of the card? That's not designer paper. That's stamped with a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig! A little time consuming but very satisfying when it's done! The sentiment is from Happy Harmony a former Sale-A-Bration set. I'm not sure I'm loving the stitching around the card, but it was fun to do!

I think I have another busy day! So, we'll see you tomorrow! Have a great day!

OCC Challenge

This another challenge I have been watching for some time. The ladies over at Our Creative Corner put out a different challenge each week. Sometimes it's sketch, or using a certain element, you just never know. So, I like that.

I wish I could say I am loving my first card for them. This is what happens when you are bound and determined to use up scraps. I had started this card base with Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise and a strip of Pumpkin Pie. I had already inked the bottom half with my Whimsy roller, so that determined the tone of the card. I didn't like any of the images I had with this oval and color scheme, so I went with this sentiment from Happy Harmony. The bright spot, I don't think I've ever made a card with the sentiment as the focal point, so it's something new. The leaves around the oval are from Season of Friendship.

Kristina has posted a new challenge, so I hope to work on that today and have it posted sometime before my head hits the pillow. Until then.....have a great day!
