Watercolor Wonder Cards...Round 1

When I saw the Watercolor Wonder Designer Note Cards in the new Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog, I instantly fell in love.  That usually doesn't happen for me.  I'm just not drawn to kits or pre-made items.  It's just me.  I like all the creativity involved in card making, from start to finish.

Still, I bought them.  They are nice.  Twenty cards, five designs, so four of each design.  I hope to bring you more of these, but here are the first five I've made.

This one features the new set So Very Grateful.  I used this in my previous post, using the chalkboard technique.

I think this one is my favorite, using Delicate Doilies.  Imagine all the color combinations possible!

The sentiment here is from Regarding Dahlias.

No Stamping here!  Just punches, sewing and the "love" from the Expressions thinlets.

I added the background stamp Hardwood as a subtle background.  Then, topped it with the pine from Lovely As A Tree and the sentiment from Truly Grateful.  The stitching is a triple zig-zag stitch...very prominent!

I purposely kept these CAS and easy to mail.

So, which one is your favorite?

Lovely As A Tree, a Christmas Favorite

Lovely As A Tree. Will I ever get tired of this set? It is such a staple. It's great for so many occasions: masculine, sympathy and of course CHRISTMAS! In fact I used this same stamp last year for one of my cards. I have to say, I like this one better because it is so sparkly! Like I mentioned a few posts ago, I'm in love with my glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds this year! This was another great opportunity to use them.I used Rich Razzleberry to ink up my trees with a little accent of it in the corners as well. It is by far my favorite in-color this year and it makes a beautiful Christmas card. I paired it up with some Cottage Wall DSP and Mellow Moss on a background of Kraft. A super quick card and oh so cute, too! I will be making lots of these if I don't get all my cards done THIS WEEKEND!

I Have Something to Share....Finally!

Boy, it felt good to make a card today! I wish I could have stayed in my crafting room all day, but no such luck! My hubby was in need of a thank you card to send to a colleague that did us a big favor last weekend. See, we spent the 4th of July weekend in Colorado, primarily for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. Saturday, we spent up in the Rocky Mountains. Sunday, we went to the Rockies baseball game. We had made arrangements through this person to have their anniversary announcement on the Jumbo-tron. Hubby and dear son even made it on the big screen! I think it had to do with dear son waving his foam finger frantically! They were tickled and it was a lot of fun despite the Rockies losing that day.

So, this is my masculine thank you card. I used Thank You Kindly and Lovely As A Tree with my Rough Texture wheel. My cardstocks are Kraft, Very Vanilla and the new In-Color Soft Suede!

See you before too long! I promise!!

Kristina's Color Inspiration #42

Wow! It's been 10 days since I posted. I really can't believe that. I wasn't even planning on posting today. I was going to sew today....long overdue. Well, that's until I saw Kristina had another challenge on her site. My first thought was I love these colors but these are fall colors. My reaction to color totally is wrapped around the seasons! After a little thought, I decided to make a father's day card. For once I'm really ahead of the game! I chose the oak tree from Lovely As a Tree because I had yet to use it on a card. I did some thumping to get the two-toned effect. Have you ever tried this? First, I inked the tree in my lightest color (More Mustard.) I colored over the trunk with a Chocolate Chip marker. Then, I randomly added thumps of Really Rust, again with a marker. Give it a huff and stamp! I added the eyelets and the ribbons. So, at some point I will have to make another for my FIL or take the opportunity to make something new.....I'll think do the later, unless I procastinate!

Kristina's Color Inspiration #30

I have been so busy over the last couple days. Last night we celebrated our daughter's 11th birthday. We had the entire family over. It had to be done on a week night because it's so hard to get everyone together on the weekend. Today I had to get a haircut, meet with a friend, go to a parent teacher conference, then come back home and have a meeting with our insurance guy. Don't they know I'm on a deadline? I need to participate in Kristina's challenge! I really wanted to do this challenge because I love the colors so much! Evidently, I'm not alone. The last I looked they were a lot of entries. It will be a tough to break that top 15, I bet. I sure hope I make it!
