Wonderful Mother - Curtain Call Act #29

Even though this week's color combo is totally out of my element, it really worked in my favor.  My mother loves yellow flowers.  So, all along I had planned to use yellow to make her Mother's Day card.

Last year Mom commented on some big yellow zinnias I had started from seed.  Immediately the light bulb went off, to start some of these next year for her Mother's Day present.  The cultivar is Dreamland and I've never seen in them greenhouses, so really the only way to get them is from seed.  This is a stock photo because mine don't look like this yet!

So, my gift and card coordinate!  Yipee!

  7. So pretty, Shelley! I'm lovin' that ribbon and button...

And, yes, my card stand is a kitchen utensil! I can't take total credit for it, though... I saw one on another blog and thought it was so cool and figured I could whip one up for myself. :) An old fork, some pliers and a bit of elbow grease later, I've got a neat-o stand for my cards. :)

  8. This is simply, fabulous, Shelley!!! The cracked glass is wonderfully done and I just love how you mixed the colours. The sheer ribbon with the button and twine is so delicate too. Your mom will love it :D BTW, those flowers are lovely too!

I must admit I can't watch a ball game without thinking of you now LOL! Hope you got a bit of down time on Mother's Day and didn't have to play taxi driver all day, or even better, got to work in your garden. I desperately need to get out and cultivate and weed mine, get the strawberry trailers into the strawberry bed, trim back some bushes, deadhead some of my early blooming rhodos etc. etc. We had lovely weather this weekend but not time to enjoy much of it. Thankfully all the Mother's Day cards are done and now I just hope lots sold! Low on my regular inventory so that is my next big production. Hard to believe there are only eight weeks of school left, but like you, I enjoy the slower pace of life during those months and spending time with my kids as they are growing up waaaaay too quickly.

Have a fabulous week, Shelley (((hugs))).

  14. WOW girl!!! What a fabulous Mother's Day card Shelley!! So many beautiful elements going on and the colors are very springy... my mom enjoys yellow flowers too... :) Sorry I have been MIA lately. Finally a night to blog hop with a cup of Chia Tea!! :) The weather was fantastic here today and nice seeing the sun after 3 days of rain. We needed it, but the sun makes things grow FAST! Your green thumb is doing it's magic... SMILES! :)
