Loads of Love - Color Throwdown #100

You will not believe what kept me from stamping last night..........a bug!  I'm not saying I was sick.  I mean an actual bug!  This has to be a first!  About 6:00 pm I realize my air conditioning isn't cooling.  It's getting uncomfortable in the house.  I discover the outside compressor isn't coming on.  Well, hubby is out of town, so I call my dad.  He gives me several (time consuming) suggestions to try and remedy my situation.  None of it works.  So, tired and disgusted, I decide to call it a night.  This morning dad comes over to try his hand with no luck.   I run off the my son's baseball games while dear dad stays behind waiting for the serviceman.  Turns out a bug, more precisely an earwig, had crawled between the electrodes in the compressor.  I wouldn't have believed it but dad saw it with his own eyes.  The serviceman was gone in about 15 minutes.  I was out $72 bucks!  I'm just thankful that's all it was!  A new unit might have cost me some stamping supplies!

In the end it turned out that the extra time gave me the opportunity to think about card ideas for the Color Throwdown.  It's their 100th challenge and they are celebrating!  The girls are giving away over $1600 dollars worth of goodies!  Check it out HERE and get all the details.

The final piece of this card came after I had time to think.  I made my own clouds to place my sentiment.  It was fun to do and I think they turned out pretty good!

  2. Ewww, earwigs are just nasty. Ugly. They even had a whole segment on the local news here on how useless these bugs are. Anywho, your card is great, and wow, those clouds are even better!

  6. Cute, cute, cute, Shelley! Great use of the colours and I love how you did the sentiment in the clouds.

I'm hoping to get a card done in the next few days for this as well - or even tonite if I can stand the heat!!! We are cooking out here - 30C+ (92+F) and we are not used to these temps!! Needless to say, because this isn't a regular occurance out here, no many people have air conditioning. So we are hot and sticky to say the least - ugh!! Poor cat looks worse than we do though.

Had a great laugh at your earwig experience. Critters can be a pain in the pocketbook. My parents had a lizard fry their hard drive when they were builing condos in Costa Rica! When we went to pick up the computer the guy told us and we didn't believe him until he took us to the gutter by the sidewalk and showed him to us - a little crispy critter he was LOL! Plus they had ants in their printer once too. Glad your stamping supplies budget is still in tact :D

Off to the waterslides tomorrow to cool off LOL! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with on Sunday.

  15. Things were "Heating" up at your house and all because of a BUG! No fun, but glad fixing the A/C wasn't very spendy! With the new SU! Catalog out, we can't loose any spending $$ for our new toys! Ha... :)

"Super cute" card and darling details to boot! Your creative thinking ROCKS! TFS... :)

  16. Oh, those earwigs. What a pain. But even though it was $72, that's a whole lot cheaper than a new unit! We had to replace one of our heat pumps a few years ago and are holding our breath that the other one keeps working. Especially since we found out today that our mechanic doesn't think Ken's old truck is worth the money it would take to fix it. Looks like we'll be shopping for a new truck this weekend...

Speaking of trucks... love Loads of Love and love this card you made with it. The sky and trees... ingenious! And your coloring is really great, too. Oh -- and the button tires and the ribbon road and the clouds and the hearts flying out of the truck... I think it's all perfect!
