Congrats - Curtain Call #32

I have a confession to make.  This week I took the easy route.  When I saw this week's colors for the Curtain Call I was excited because these are pretty colors that I would never put together myself.
Well, the week got away from me and next thing I know, it's Saturday and I haven't made my card.  We had made plans for a fire with my parents that evening, so time was tight.  Additionally, I needed a card to give to my dad, to celebrate his retirement.  The result?  This week's card.

I let the designer papers and the decorative stitching do the bulk of the work.  I used my stars die for the second time in a month!  I've come to the conclusion  I need some stars stamps...I like using stars and other than the die, I have none!

I wasn't going to mention it, but you see I used Real Red, instead of Rose Red?  Chalk that one up to bad eyesight!  I just totally misread it!  I just discovered my faux pas this morning!  Oooops!

I also want to mention, I will be posting lots of cards this week!  It's no secret I have been starved for stamping time.  I am missing that stamping time terribly! I need some fun!  For years I have kept a card folder on my computer consisting of great looking cards from other bloggers.  I recently looked at that folder and there were 140 files in it!  So, about two weeks ago I started casing those cards.  I am having a blast making them!  I'm going to share these cards with all the credit back to the original artist (I keep pretty good track of these things!)  Once I get started I hope you'll leave me some feedback.  I was a little leery of starting this CASE on such a grand scale.  Then, I thought of my stamping friends that, like me, simply haven't had the time to stamp...these cards have been so fun, easy and stress-free to make!

In the meantime, how about checking out the rest of the Curtain Call Crew?

  1. First, congratulations to your Dad on his retirement. What's he going to do with all his "free" time?
Second, the card you made is beautiful as always. I haven't done a lot of paper crafting in a long time but I am always inspired when I come visit.
    Enjoy your day.

  2. Such a pretty card! Love all the patterned papers stitched together! :)

  3. For taking the "easy route", you sure came up with a gorgeous card! I love all the different stitches you used!

  4. This is fabulous, Shelley :D Love all the DPs and the stitching is a great touch. Your casing idea sounds wonderful - I'm sure I've got close to 200 in my file LOL! I may just have to do the same :D Enjoy your stamping time!!

  5. What a fabulous card Shelley! Love that stitched panel background of different DSPs - wonderful!

  6. Masterful use of the colors, Shelley. (Real Red, Rose Red? Doesn't matter to me! Real Red looks great, too.) Looking forward to your new series!

  7. WOWZER Shelley your card is GORGEOUS!! Love the layers of DP, the sewing and the big star in the center....fabbo!!! Hugs ~S~

  8. Ummmm wow, you work extremely well under pressure! This card is just fantastic!

  9. LOVE it, Shelley, fabbie stitching!! XXX

  10. in the stamping world...CASEing is the sincerest form of flattery! I'm sure it helped you and other stampers will love to see how much you like thier work, too. Can't wait to see how much it helped you get going - and get going quickly...sometimes just coming up with the layout or design is hardest part! and who wants to do all that thinking when we could just be stamping and creating? :)

  11. This is a fantastic card, I absolutely adore and so very much appreciate the intricate stitching on this card. I think it is just greand.

  12. this is a great card-congrats to your dad on retirement-I laughed at your story about the color mix-up. I did the same thing last week on a color challenge-I thought I had real red dsp and it was melon mambo-can't trick the camera!!

  13. What a great card you have put together in a short period of time- you obviously work well under pressure! I can't wait to see your cards in the coming week, I have the same file and can't wait to do exactly what you are doing!! happy casing! :)

  14. WOW! such a brilliant effort in a short amount of time! you have inspired me to get the nesties stars! I think they are essential for the boy/male cards. Cannot wait to see your list of cards what a great idea.

  15. OK, I'm in awwww over the stitching on this card! {{PERFECT}} and again the DP is making it work it's charm! Keep up the fantastic creative "MOJO" you have going... LOVE IT!!!!

    Have a super weekend! :)
